Fish Fridays: From sea to plate

We have a passion for British produce and of course, the world-famous British pub. That’s why, with your help, we want the village pub to be a hub of the community once again, bringing back some of the old-time traditions and paying homage to our roots…

Introducing Fish Fridays…

Our offering here at The Cock Inn, yet a tradition that dates back hundreds of years in our history books! Eating fish on a Friday is both a religious and royal tradition. Fast forward to 2019 and Fish Friday is a firm fixture on many-a menu in schools, pubs, restaurants and homes.

Our ethos of ‘fresh is best’ couldn’t be more true to how our Head Chef devises our fish specials. Every Friday, we offer a variety of dishes on our specials board containing the freshest, ethically-sourced fish delivered straight from the fish market that very morning. You can practically still hear the waves…

Tradition aside, there is also a huge amount of health benefits to eating fish. It is known to be one of the healthiest foods on the planet; packed with nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids which are incredibly good for your body, brain and overall health and wellbeing.

So if you love to head to the fish and chip shop on a Friday evening, why not mix things up and join us for Fish Friday this week? Our team are ready to serve a selection of fin-tastic fish classics (see what we did there?) and exciting new creations to savour and enjoy… from beer-battered haddock and pan-seared scallops with chorizo, to pan-roasted sea bream with fennel salsa and grilled whole rainbow trout, each week there will be something to tempt you!
